This months meeting was held Sunday, August 11, 2019, at the Kingwood Fire Department in Kingwood, WV. First Officer John Hawkins led the meeting. There were seventeen people in attendance, consisting of members of the #485 and #542 chapters.
No report at this time.
Members were notified that the thank you letters went out to the rally contributors of the 485 chapter which included:
- Silver Scissors Salon
- Pines Country Club
- Clubhouse Grill at The Pines
- Rozy’s Peppers
- Triple S Harley Davidson
- Lessons Motorsports
Members were given a chance to read a copy of the thank you letter, however, if you missed the meeting you may read a copy on our website here.
Battered Women’s ride
August 17th is the Battered Women’s ride. We will be meeting at the Reedsville Dairy Queen at 10 AM, KSU at 10:15 AM. Please arrive at the Dairy Queen with a full tank.
The ride signups start at 11 AM. The ride begins at Hoover’s. KSU 1 pm, ride through Keyser to Rt. 46 to Fort Ashby, then continue on Rt. 28 to Romney to rt 50 towards capon bridge, then on to Wardensville and into Moorefield. We will then head back to Hoover’s for dinner and the bands!. The ride will be approximately 130 miles, with three stops, all of which are gas stations/convenience stores. Hoovers is Cash only!
The multi-chapter picnic was discussed. Here are the highlights:
- August 24th is still the scheduled date.
- We will eat at 5 pm, but your welcome to come earlier to mingle.
- Location: Brian Fikes’ residence 12989 North Mountaineer Hwy, Reedsville WV 26547
- Donations for the meat are still being accepted. Approximately $60 has been raised so far. If you wish to make a donation towards the meat, please contact Melissa Williams of chapter 542.
- There will be some chairs available, but if you have them, bring them.
- If you have a canopy, you can also bring those.
- Bring your own drinks
- Every member coming is asked to bring a covered dish. Sign up sheet is on Chapter 542’s Facebook page. So far only 9 people have commented on what they are bringing.
- There is a post on 542’s Facebook page asking for a headcount. You can comment on the post here.
Tradesmen Inn Ride
August 31st is the Tradesmen Inn Ride led by Awesome Bill, details will be announced at a later date.
September 7th is the Patriots Ride. We will meet at the GoMart located in Meadowbrook.. Meetup time will be 10 AM, KSU at 10:15 AM.
It was suggested and agreed that our next monthly meeting will be held at the Caboose on September 15th at noon. The Caboose is located off of the Joy Street exit in Clarksburg.
The proposed helmet drive was canceled.
Special Olympics ride
Sept 8th there will be a Special Olympics ride. Details will be provided at a later date.
Bridge Festival ride
Sept 14 is the Bridge Festival ride organized by chapter #542. Details will be provided at a later date.
An Open Date
September 29th was the original date we were considering for the helmet drive. The helmet drive has been canceled so this date is open for any suggested rides. Have somewhere you’d like to go? Let us know!
Chapter 542 Bingo
Chapter #542 will be hosting a Bingo this year. Details will be provided at a later date.
Paint N Sip
A paint-n-sip, among other things, was suggested for sometime in January or February 2020. No further details were discussed.
Last Months Rides
July 13th was our trip to Quecreek Mine in Somerset, PA and it was a huge success. Everyone had a great time.
July 21st – Consolidated Guys/Girls Ride it was decided to move the guy, and ladies ride to a later date.
August 10th – Colemans Fish Market was canceled due to safety concerns.
If no times are mentioned, they will be announced closer to the time of the ride on our Facebook Group as well as our 485 calendar
The calendar will have the appropriate links to more information about the ride destination, including GPS coordinates and an “add to calendar” for those who have a smartphone.
