This month’s meeting was held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Brickside in Bridgeport, WV. First Officer John Hawkins led the meeting, and special guest State Officer for West Virginia, Richard Daff, discussed the West Virginia State Rally. There were sixteen people in attendance.

Our Second Officer, Beth Gribble, has decided to step down. John presented Beth with a “Second Officer Served” patch. The many years of service to this chapter have been exceptional. It’s been amazing having someone as committed as Beth helping lead Chapter 485. Beth’s leadership qualities and passion for riding make her an incredible person to work with and ride with. Thank you, Beth!

John asked if any member was interested in the Second Officer position. Corey Gainey offered. Richard Daff will talk to John and give his decision a little later.

It was discussed and agreed that we will not be planning out rides every week this year. Instead, we will plan one ride per month, and then members who wish to ride on alternative dates can post on 485’s Facebook page, and anyone interested can join that member on their ride. Our first ride will be scheduled for some time at the end of April, and an exact date will be given at a later time.

Other Highlights

  • 50/50 Raffle tickets will be available starting with next months meeting.
  • Amy Gainey has graciously agreed to make a T-shirt quilt for the State Rally. Please look through your old State Rally T-shirts and any you wish to donate from years prior to 2011, please bring them to the next meeting.
  • Riders Rodeo is once again on the table IF we can find an appropriate place to hold the games. Please ask around. If you can get permission, call John Hawkins or post on 485’s Facebook page. If we can not find a venue by next months meeting the idea will be set aside until next year.
  • National Rally is scheduled for Sept. 1-4
  • Next meeting will be Sunday, March 13, in Morgantown. Exact location will be announced later and an email will be sent out to all members.
